...and light tanks in general. I had played halfassedly throughout ELC, but didn't really learn a lot. What can you you guys tell me specifically about the 12t, and light tanking in general? I played one match in it and did alright, mostly staying hidden and trying to keep target illuminated, and only shooting stuff that wasn't looking at me. What else should I be doing?

The most important thing is to not get shot. Your damage comes from being an opportunistic vulture, not trading health.

Try not to shoot at moving targets with it because of its low ammo count. Save your hit points till the end of the match and pick on tanks you can kill in a couple shots. Watch out for the enemy light tanks. They are usually the biggest problem if they don't YOLO into team off the start.

"Halfassedly"... I might have to use that term at work. Thanks for that, gave me a laugh.
I'm far from an expert but I think my biggest piece of advice if you want to keep the enemies lit up and get assisted damage is to resist the urge to shoot as stated above.

One thing I'm learning about the 12t is that it's too damn slow. I can barely beat mediums to the spotting locations, and I damn sure can't beat other lights. The struggle is real.

Ya, just from platooning with my friend who did that line, I don't know if I have the energy for it. The ELC is super fun but the tier 6 looks brutal. With the new lights in the game, it seems like that grid is a lot harder. Usually you end up going head to head with the other team's lights and that might not always be a good match-up if it's a Bulldog or some of the other lights. Right now, this line is on the back-burner, for me.

I don't know what equipment you are running, but try camo net, binocs and coated optics. Crew skills I recommend 6th sense first, with all the camo perks(execpt silent driving you're a light you get it anyway), recon and situational awareness. And keep 1 or 2 clips of apcr for endgame cleanup of tough targets. Camp bush whenever possible, or poke ridge lines but never come back up in the same spot twice. The longer you stay alive the more dangerous you become. Try and find engaged targets and go shoot them in the ass, or do the circle of death on slow heavies. Tracking shots are good whenever possible, you get free xp if anyone else damages them.

I played it like a passive scout first. Stay undetected, don't shoot unless you have cover to get undetected, and try to keep tanks lit up first. Spot in one location, then move to a new location so they can't focus on where you are at.
Save your HP. Don't take hits. Late game is where you get your damage. It's important to survive until late game because that's when you become the reaper. You become death to damaged tanks. They are tired and wounded, and you get to finish them off.

The 12t is so shitty, once read on the other forum to play it as a snipey second line tank. Still utter shit. Used 9k earned xp to finally get rid of it, the 13 75/90 are awesome and of course the line ends at the Batmobile!

From what I have seen these tanks do best when unseen. Once the enemy lights know you are there you are screwed. Do your best to pop up spot and run, and watch out for Chaffees, T37s, and Bulldogs. Granted this is from my point of view as a driver of the Chaffee, T37, and Bulldog(granted I sold the T37). Train all the camo and view range and silent "assassin" skills and perks you can, even silent driving. they will help you stay alive longer.

Pretty sure WG have officially confirmed on multiple occassions that the silent driving perk has literally NO effect on light tanks seeing as they keep their camo rating on the move the same as when they're stationary. Don't waste a skill/perk slot on it on a dedicated light tank crew because you get absolutely no benefit unless you transfer the crew to another type of vehicle (non light tank)
