So I know there are a few threads on the other forum about this tank but I wanted to see what the people here thought, as I respect the opinion of the majority of the players here.
I know nothing about the stats seem overwhelming, so right there, it doesn't seem to have any quality that makes it a 'must-have'. However, T9 MM is nice. Also, I really just could benefit from the Japanese crew trainer, as I really like the STB1 and feel like boosting that crew would make my tier 10 battles in it much better. Also, I really enjoy the Japanese play-style of the higher tiered mediums (from STA1 once fully upgraded-on), so I think the STA2 would be fun to play. That gun depression is nice at -10. So I'd like to hear some thoughts. Overall impression (based off of stats for the moment)? Would it make sense for me? Thanks. |

For crew and silver...thumbs up if you can afford it. If you are iffy on gold funds, it doesn't play differently enough from the 1 to invest. Yes, it's slightly different, but not enough (again, other than the crew training and silver earning)...I'm not poo poo on the tank, however, because I really enjoyed the STA-1.
folkish...it's a toss up. Chi Nu Kai has a really nice gun for tier 5 (IMO). You might club a bit with that versus the sta-2 in a higher tier like that.

I got a gift card for $50 for Xbox, so I have n problem spending the gold if it is something that makes sense. Plus, I have a bunch of German and USA premiums, so a Japanese would be nice, for reasons above. I never really wanted the CNK for whatever reason. But the STA2 seems pretty sweet. I don't expect it to be amazing but as long as it is effective and fun, I think the positives outweigh the negatives.

According to MaxChaos; it is the pre-buff version hence it has PMM whereas the PC STA does not.
I'm on the fence about it personally, I already have two Chinese premiums and am not even actively grinding a Chinese line. I don't have any Japanese tanks yet but when the heavies come out I will no doubt have to try them. So a crew might be nice but not mandatory at all of course. |

Im gonna buy it because I dont like playing the Chi Nu Kai. I dont think this tank is going to be very noob friendly though. I have been playing lots of easiums lately and quite like their play-style so hopefully I can make it work.

I guess if you're looking for a Japanese crew trainer it may be worthwhile, but if you're just looking for any tier 8 premium medium then the Panther 8.8 is probably a better choice.

I'm at work right now. I was just reading your guys' initial responses and deciding if I want to buy it once I get home tonight. I already have the STB1 and I really love it. So I was planning on buying the STA2 basically to build that crew up more for the STB. Also, I really started to like the STA1 later on, towards the end of that grind and I loved the Type 61. The STB is my favorite medium. So I just assumed since I like those tanks, and the stealthy play style, that the STA2 would be a decent buy.
As far as you struggling in it, I would say try not to brawl. Basically play it like you can't get hit. I'm no expert but I for sure pick my spots in the Japanese meds, and just try to play stealthy. So maybe you are being too aggressive, too early?
