I will be posting a lot here soon, about to go on a long ban lol. Also to anyone here who posts on the Wag forums and saw my comment about cancer, I don't think Cancer is funny or a joke. It's a terrible thing and I am sorry to anyone who has family or themselves who have gone through it.
So yup

Seriously I get that it sucks and destroys lives and is generally an all around horrible disease but the level of sheer Butthurt that comes from saying sky cancer there is absolutely appallingly stupid.
Also, it's a valid term for a lot of things other than said disease.

I've had several family members die of cancer but I don't think calling arty "Sky cancer" is offensive or can even be remotely construed as a hurtful comment towards someone who has had cancer ,knows someone with cancer or knows a guy who knows a guy. People need to use thier heads, this out of control PC roller coaster needs to be put down.

Maybe we should call it the "self-propelled carcinogenic bullet dispensing vehicle" from now on.

Well, if you want to stick with the theme, there are plenty of good "c" words you can apply to arty.
That out of the way, the situation on the live forum is ridiculous and pretty sad really. I'm not one who routinely complained about much (and happily poked a bit of fun at those who spammed 'Ermagerd I'm Leaving!!!' threads) but its still pretty shitty when WG feels the need to shut down threads addressing real issues.
And after running into the sme AFK prick on NA West everyday for serverl months, even I call it an issue.

Had an immediate family member die from cancer last year, but I'm not going to be offended because someone uses the word. It amazes me how easily people are offended.

For some people i think it's more the fact it reminds them of it rather than it being offensive, however some people just jump on the offensive band wagon in general.

I look at it this way, if somebody politely asks for me not to use the term, its fine and I'll respect it (I got multiple terms in multiple languages I can use for arty). If somebody starts getting in my face (as much as they can on the internet anyway) about it, I'll roll my eyes and let them have a piece.

I'm going to open up a little bit here to explain my view on the whole skycancer thing. Wall of text warning lol. My younger brother was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 12 and spent alot of the next 4 years in hospital, untill he sadly passed away at the age of 16. I didn't get to see my brother much at all in that time as I was just setting up my own home with R35T, we didn't have alot of money so I wasn't able to see him while he was in hospital. I missed out on a lot of my brothers life and he died so young. Seeing "sky cancer" being used as a term for arty all over the official forum used to upset me quite alot (most of the time I'd end up in tears). It was always a reminder of a really shit time for me, it would always get me thinking about my brother and the relationship I never got to have with him. Around the time of the anniversary of his passing (December), a time when I'm particularly sensitive about the subject someone, who I was in a clan with, referred to arty as sky cancer. I really hit the roof about it and it caused quite a stir in our clan thread. Once things calmed down, myself and my clan mate had a PM conversation to clear things up we both apologised, me for having a go at him, and him for upsetting me because that wasn't his intention.
Since then I try not to let the sky cancer thing bother me. I know, now, it's not used to joke about cancer or, purposefully, upset/offend anyone, but I can fully understand how it would bother some people. It's easy to say that people shouldn't be bothered by something, but in some cases it's not that easy to actually not be bothered by it. Cancer is a really delicate subject for some, so please don't be too hard on them if they don't see it the same way you do.

Well it looks like the situation over in the official forums escalated quite rapidly last night. Now I'm wondering who is going to be over here on a more permanent basis now, voluntarily or not.
Hopefully WGA will finally actually take notice after all that.

Took a while to read through all that this morning, our numbers increased more than normal overnight though so that's good.

WG is digging a hole for themselves. Can't believe that's any good for them.

WG is digging a hole for themselves. Can't believe that's any good for them. Very true, their apparent lack of caring isn't good. Most other games punish players who cheat, afk, or quit often, so i don't know why WG won't do it.
