I finally caved and picked up the british CV's. I told myself I wouldn't buy another CV again, but after a few games of my DD getting wrecked by them no matter what I did, I decided that the best way to learn to counter them is to try them for myself and see how they aim.
I don't like the controls of the new CV's. I dont like having basically no direct control over my own ship. The new system makes me feel completely disengaged with the game, I just fly around and spot (which usually means nothing as my teammates don't fire at targets I spot) or farm damage off of whatever target isn't sitting in a cluster of ships. BB's are basically defenceless against a CV captain with decent timing, and Flak is actually extremely easy to avoid in a majority of cases.
While there were some periods of fun, I don't like the new system at all as a whole. Have any of you guys tried it? Any tips to make it better?

I think I have 5 games in randoms with the reeeeeework. 4 in Hermes (garbage), one in Langley (did close to 100k damage, I think?)
Fuck skycancer.

Its a shadow of the glory that it once was I had a blast playing in the RTS days, and I had some decent sucess with that system. The new one is just straight up wierd. Attacking multiple times with a single squadron seems extremely overpowered, especially when you are using torpedo planes against a BB. Its insanely easy to abuse the DCP system to stack dot's on most targets, but mind you i'm only at tier 4 so far.
VERY little reward for how much work you have to put in to actually make a difference in a game. Spotting wins games, but you get almost nothing for helping your team with it. Its pretty boring flying around in cicles on a cap keeping a DD spotted for your team for long enough for them to kill it.
After playing some games in coop and randoms I have had a decent bit of fun with it, but I liked the old system exponentially better. I might keep a low tier CV around to mess around with in coop and scenarios.

CVs are really good in scenarios, especially Ark Royal

CVs are really good in scenarios, especially Ark Royal The only premium cv worth buying in my opinion. Unless you like getting bottom tier all the time in Kaga and Saipan.

Fuck cvs.
The old way was fun becuase I could actually do damage in coop.
With the rework more skill is required and once you go to tier 8 and up the AA was pretty bad.
I hated the new gane play abd got no reward from it even when I did "win". I switched to DDs. I'd rather suck in a DD then be a glorified spotter plane in a cv.
Despite all the nerfs cvs have gotten they will still wipe out my DD in run if they're good enough.
Gotta love how WG adds even more, THAT NEVER EVEN EXISTED. One german premium was okay, but not a whole dammed line!

I did pick up Ark Royal after some extensive research, and she is actually pretty decently fun. I have for the most part confined myself to coop but I may try and stint in Randoms and see how it goes. It just seems, disengaging. I honestly never give a shit where my carrier is or what happens to it. The British CV's don't seem to have great alpha strikes, but they can sure stack DoT like craazy. Those carpet bombs light fires like a son of a bitch, even if the pen kind of sucks vs almost everything.

I only play CVs in co-op just because they are kinda mindless. If you want to have fun in a CV, get the Graf Zeppelin (which I got in a crate -- would never buy it, lol). While I don't run manual secondaries, I do run BFT and AFT, plus the secondary flag, and HOLY CRAP IT'S HILARIOUS. The planes are fast as all holy hell, but total shit. The rocket planes are made from paper-thin porcelain, the torpedo bomber pilots are drunk af on schnapps, and the dive bombers (AP) ... aren't terrible, actually, as long as you don't have to hit USN BBs or CLs, as they overpen for daaaays. But it is having the pair of Clevelands strapped to either side that makes it fun. That being typed, I haven't played DDs much in randoms. I ran the Kidd in Ranked and lol'd my way to rank 5 in 8 games. Otherwise, though, it is nothing but pain thanks to radar and CVs. In fact, in the 7 random games I played Friday (all tier IX), there were no DDs at all in 4 of them. It was...odd.
