Just wondered if any of you play ships on console? I know a couple of people who play, but that's about it. Got it downloaded now. Plan to see if I can figure it out this week.

I'm probably the most active legends player here, unless R35T still plays.
If you have any questions I can ( try lol) to help.

It sounds significantly diminished from its PC incarnation, with the tier 7 limitation and all, and the idea of "Legendary" ships being introduced sounds concerning.
I'm not sure how well the controls would work for the console version either, I'm sure its functional, but it would probably take some time for me to get used to, since I've played for a while on the PC version.

I played the Alpha a bit, and it is good if you don't have a PC that can run it, or hate carriers pooping on you in every game. The controls were tolerable, but I HATED the thought of having to grind XP for module upgrades. Think World of Tanks, but you have to grind XP before you can get a gun rammer or optics. Not sure if that went live, but if it did, it is dumb. For sure give it a shot! For me, there's literally nothing it offers me that the PC game doesn't (other than carrier-free gameplay, but I'm a cruiser main so lol don't care. FEED ME PLANES!!! )

I loaded it up today and didn't know where to begin. After a few minutes of just sitting there, I closed it down and went back to tanks. Lol. I think I played a couple of test matches on ps4. That's where I signed up for the test program. And never could figure out how to move my ship. On xbox now. Now that it's been out awhile, hopefully it's more user friendly.
I got the Charleston premium and looks like there's about 3 other tier 1-2 ships in my harbor or whatever they call it here. Lol.

I bought it and played it when it launched or maybe just prior. I got the feeling that teamwork is more important than tanks and struggled with understanding safe engagement strategies, how experience and medals were awarded and basically had no clue how to evaluate how I was faring.

Teamwork in ships plays a bigger role I think, but so does RNG. Its just a completely different game with different play styles. In some ways, its dramatically easier to survive for much longer, but at the same time it still has those chances of your game ending in 2 minutes. Barring a random chance multiple Citadel from a Battleship or torpedos, a cruiser can survive quite a few shots from another ship. In tanks, with the massively widespread use of premium rounds, autoloaders and artillery its much harder to take a few hits and survive, especially with the crippling effect of module and crew damage.
RNG is the biggest damage limiting factor in a battleship. A fully, perfectly aimed salvo at 8km's distance on a broadside AFK target can, and often does, miss entirely. It may also just overpen for hilariously minimal damage, allowing you to survive an otherwise sure death as the battleship has an average of 25 second reload.
I personally like Warships significantly better than Tanks without a doubt, the PC version anyway. I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out on Console though, if you want some help figuring out the controls.

Yeah, you move by setting the throttle and it stays put -- not like tanks where you have to use the stick to move forward and back. Ask Ruthless for more info -- he should be able to help.

I was wanting to co-op with one of my friends, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to do that yet. He just said it takes a bit before you can. Just curious if you all know about that. It looked like I'd have to play with AI like in the beginning of tanks. Is it just getting through a tutorial or do you have to reach a certain tier first to be able to play with others?

It looked like I'd have to play with AI like in the beginning of tanks. Is it just getting through a tutorial or do you have to reach a certain tier first to be able to play with others? I don't know the answer. Your friend will likely know, since they are aware of a limitation. I don't recollect there being much of a tutorial which restricted multiplayer. I thought I played the Beta but now I think about it, I didn't play the beta, it was the public release, I pre-ordered one of the premium packages and started playing a week or so prior to those who didn't pre-order. I'm pretty sure I was able to enter a battle queue from the get go which was described as having a mixture of AI and other players and some people were clearly operating together. Some battles were nearly all AI and I put that down to player populations. That's mostly useless info though now because i'm sure there have been a plethora of changes/updates since then. The other thing which was missing for me which I had with tanks and allowed me to understand stuff better and keep me interested and this is going to sound strange considering these things can be associated with toxicity but warships on console lacked a compiled stats/medal count page with a good description, a forum and a tree that i could scrutinise and ponder over to give me some direction. They closed the forums just prior to release and displayed a summary after each battle and I could see my garage but there was a fair bit of guess work in understanding the result and focus/direction and vessel potential. Battle honours didn't seem to be retained in any way after each battle was over. I think there were various daily and weekly challenges which were described well and earned equipment or crew but that novelty wore off. I'll probably give it another go sometime. I'm enjoying Death Stranding at the moment. Reminds me of Metal Gear Solid V in so many ways.

It’s been awhile but i think you unlock co-op at level 3 and maybe divisions at level 5.
Sorry for the late response.

So I got an external HD for the old Xbone and there was some free stuff for boats (bundle with Nuremburg and Yubari) so downloaded it and gonna derp around a bit this week just to see whatit's like. (I average like 50k damage a game in my Nurry on PC, which is kinda absurd given it's a floating citadel, lol. But I love it.)

A few thoughts after playing a bit (and will probably play a bit more this week, as I have some free premium time). CaptainsLove the fact that captains can be put in multiple ships without costing anything to move or change out skills. Absolutely. Totally. Brilliant. Also brilliant: high-tier captain skills are deactivated when playing low-tier ships to discourage seal clubbing. (Think you can have 3 skills active at tier II.) I hate it when I'm playing tier II on PC and some clown has RPF. The captain upgrade system is confusing as fuck. Was wondering why I wasn't getting new skills unlocked, only to realize I had 160K captain XP just sitting there ... ? And you have to actively apply XP to captains...? It's odd. The captain skills are not stupidly broken, as the bonuses seem to be quite modest. So that's nice. How do you unlock more captains? Why did the game give me THREE ones for the French line (DD, BB, and cruiser specialties of some sort)? Do they have those for other nations? Are they crate-based? UI/VisionThere REALLY needs to be another level of zoom out without using the free-look camera, and the enemy ship icons need to be larger when not targeted. It is nearly impossible not to tunnel vision due to the way the zoom works and how enemy ship icons are all but invisible until targeted. I mean, when you're shooting a ship and suddenly notice your secondaries are shooting a DD that is next to you that you didn't even see, that's a problem -- especially when those secondaries are on a goddamend St. Louis, lol. (Honestly -- dood was basically part of my crew at that point.) That's been BY FAR my biggest issue -- situational awareness is tough when your field of vision and info you receive are limited. I really, really don't like it even a little bit. WHY DO I HAVE TO PUSH MULTIPLE BUTTONS MULTIPLE TIMES TO DO THE MOST BASIC OF SHIT?! Honestly. The setup of the UI -- both in port and in game -- is ebola and whomever designed it should be sent to the gulag. It's fucking terrible. Why not just copy the PC version (or slightly tweak) like they did with tanks? It is 100% hot trash. They need options for other reticles like on PC. GameplayMe, at start of game in the Tenryu (sp?), checking the torp angles. "Oh, I remember how bad these were." *pulls trigger and watches wall of torps head toward teammate* Me: " WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!?!?! WHY ARE THE TORPS ALREADY LOADED AT THE START OF BATTLE?!?!?! HOLY SHIT IMMA TEAM KILL AREN'T I?"
*torps hit but do nothing to friendly boat* "Oh...huh. No team damage. lolokay." While DDs can carry games on PC, seems like they can be STUPID OP on console when captained by a good player. So little awareness out there, and the fact the maps seem condensed vs. PC -- combined with torps being loaded to start the battle -- leads me to believe they can wreck face at will. (Again, when driven by someone competent.) Why do they call "Standard Battle" mode "Capture the Flag"? All that does is encourage morons to charge right up the map toward the enemy base and get their faces smashed. That's just fucking stupid on WG's part and probably part of the YOLO problem. The playerbase is clinically fucktarded. Yes, PC has YOLO destroyer players and BBs that hug the border, but...holy fuckballs these people are goddamned horrible. In not one random game did one of my team's DD live past the three minute mark, and BB players either try to run off the map at the first site of an enemy, or YOLO into a wall of torps. There is no in between. And no one understands positioning -- I was using an island as cover and someone sent me a message after game calling me a camping noob, lol. (Note that I lost every game, yet was first LITERALLY each time, and in two of them doubled the XP of the next closest on my team. The clown who messaged me was dead last with like 160 XP in a random match.) EconomyHooooooly shit premiums are overpriced. They are charging $40+ for boats that are $15 on PC. Guess they decided to milk whales vs. nickel and diming everyone. That being typed: the ability to earn special premium boats like the Shima, Gearing, Conkekeror, etc. is kinda cool. Grinding silver seems to be relatively easy, but not quite as good as on PC. XP rewards in co-op are higher than PC co-op (still crap vs randos), and the matches rarely had friendly bots, so guessing there is a large co-op contingent? OverallIt's not terrible. While I certainly like PC version better, this is a nice option for those who want to play historical shooty boats without fake boats, or those who don't have a gaming PC. No stats visible make for a much more relaxing time as well, IMHO. QUESTIONS:Are Soviet BBs as broken as they are on PC? I hope so because I am at the tier VIII on PC and IT IS AMAZEBALLS HOLY SHIT. And I suck in BBs, lol. Are British BBs HE spammers like on PC? When are CVs coming? Right now, it is WONDERFUL without them. Best overall cruiser line? Without the Hindy to cap it off, German line seems meh; IJN has some strong ships in there, and the U.S. is always good all-rounders. Is that a good read? Do French still have a black hole where the citadel is usually located? Anything else I should note or keep in mind?

You can unlock 1 commander crate through weekly challenges. You can also purchase a 3 pack once a week for 10.5 million silver. Also through some bureau projects, campaigns etc and of course purchase.
Speaking of bureau projects, 2 are leaving April. The Legendary anniversary and the Red white and boom. IIRC legendary anniversary has mostly crates of various types, and the Red white and boom has a free tier 5 California premium. You don’t have to finish the projects before April, just activate them and then you can finish later.
Russian BB’s still hit like a truck, but the side armor is still weak. I don’t have any so I cannot speak to their accuracy.
British BB are still HE spammers, although I see a lot of players trying to use AP only with them.
CV’s are coming, don’t know when. We finished a test event a few weeks ago and they only had HE bombs and torpedos. Very hard for a lot of players to hit with both. We don’t have any further information but more information “ soon”
I like US cruisers, but which is the best cruiser line always stirs up plenty of debate.
French cruisers are still a pain to citadel.
Tier 6 premium ships is the sweet spot for credit earning.
The grind for commanders is real, PO’s you can earn weekly, UC’s and especially insignia are much harder to get.
If you decide to spend money on the game ( big if I know) the firepower deluxe is by far the best value. You get 4 premium ships( IIRC Arizona, Texas, Iwaki and the Kamikaze ( Kami is tier 4 and it’s just not fair with proper commanders). Premium time, some doubloons and various crates camos. I think it sells for around 30 bucks on amazon. Just buy new as it has a code that can only be redeemed once. It’s a physical edition kind of what like wotc did years ago.

"First tech tree you grinding?" Well...grinding them all because that's how I roll. Not doing German at all, and only BB lines will be RN and Soviet. Also no French BBs or DDs, as they don't suit my style. "Looks like the bonus from the ships 101 mission." Might have been...? Just got the Cambletown and picked Alaska, I think. (I ADORE that ship on PC.) It's...surprisingly fun and enjoyable, tbh. Averaging like 70k in my Kuma which is HILARIOUS. Haven't played any BBs yet and, tbh, not sure how that's gonna go. DDs are just so strong it is insane. So many people play DDs like ass, too, so I might focus on those lines a bit and show em how it is done.
