Or hidden/overlooked gems, hidden shit, rarer games? Basically just try to be a damn hipster.
But anyway.
We all have that category of game. You know the one. That type of game that only you seem to know or care about anymore, or something. Basically talk about any game(s) that's as close to that idea as possible, I'll start with one I don't think many have heard of at all.
Alundra 2
This was an Action/RPG/adventure type of game on the PlayStation one, and one of the earlier games of it's nature I remember playing besides Kingdom hearts.
It was set in the past where pirates ruled the seas, and it just so happens that the protagonist is a pirate hunter who is very vengeful towards them as a group of pirates was responsible for the murder of his parents.
The plot isn't that straightforward though, there's a baron trying to take over the kingdom of veruna, a wizard named Mephisto who sticks fucking keys into living being's backs ti transform them into clockwork monsters etc etc.
I've still yet to actually complete it as I was stupid stuck waaay waaay back on a puzzle that I just couldn't figure out, and we had no internet to look up any solutions.
So yeah, do the typing thing.

For me, one game that nobody else that had a PlayStation back in the day knew about or played, was G Police.
You were a cop on the Martian colonies of the future, which were effectively controlled by evil Corporations. The full storyline escapes me, but it was fantastic.
What really grabbed me was the gameplay. You controlled a helicopter. Well, a helicopter sans blades.
Flying around futuristic city scapes, fighting ground and air forces, and with a fiendishly tough learning curve... I absolutely loved it, and always felt it was ripe for a remake.

I remember finding a demo for that one, and demos for many other games I remember thoroughly enjoying, but could never remember the names.

Mercinaries 1&2
It was the first free roam single player war game. The first one took place in North Korea, and the second one took place in South America.
You could steal anything (many tanks included), blow up just about any building, call in air strikes and artillery strikes. Choose which side you wanted as an ally too. You also hunted down bounties. In the first one they used the deck of 52 cards.

Yeah you're right, Operation Eorope was the name. It's been awhile. I'd probably still have it if I didn't give it and all my video game stuff away before my big attempt to move to Oregon.

Would Tom Clancy's End War count? that game gave me endless hours of entertainment and I enjoyed the factions, like EU 2.0 on steroids, Speedy boi America JSF forces and angry, heavy metal Russian Spetsnaz.
The way your units changed look when you gave them upgrades was pretty awesome as well, your tanks going from looking fairly plain to something out of a Mad Max meets Battle Robots mashup.
Or being able to fight in all sorts of places, like Washington, Paris and Moscow to name a few, I really loved End War and was sad when they didn't make another one

I found one recently called ReCore. I really haven't gotten very far on it, but it's been interesting. I keep hitting spots that are difficult to get past, but when I finally do, It's like yay! I think it may end up being one I really like.
Another one I found is called Tron: Evolution. I've only played the demo, but I thought it was fun. I'll probably end up getting it too.

It's not really forgotten, but it's a classic. Found them with my highschool stuff today. Wish I could play 'em!

The Advanced Wars games are heavily overlooked and underrated, and if you don't know what adv wars is it's basically Fire emblem, but simplified and with a Modern warfare skin.

Kingdoms of Amalur: the Reckoning.
An RPG written by R.A. Salvatore.
You will not want to stop playing it. Combat is easy to grasp but extremely rewarding. The memorable storyline is deeply engaging and there are an insane amount of random characters in the absolutely massive world to find and complete varied quests for.
The animation is excellent, the armour, weapons and clothing badass, and the enemies are extremely awesome. The world is dynamic and vibrant, with incredibly detailed and varied landscapes.
You can create hybrid characters of all varieties, and the game has interesting build options available, encouraging you to branch out your ability tree while not limiting the effectiveness of pure built characters.
This game is an immediate classic, is almost impossible to find in hard copy, and will instantly become one of your favourite titles.

The legacy of Kain games were great.
Tron 2.0 is awesome. Less wall jumping and leaping than Tron evolution. Lots of options for character skill variety.
The mechwarrior games. All of them. Including mechwarrior commander. And even the one wargaming did for the Xbox.
Summoner. Fantasy RPG style game, similar to a lot of jrpgs , so lots of walking and random mob attacks. A combat system that allowed you to build up huge combo chains if you hit the buttons in time.

His game just got added to backwards compatible on xbox for about 20 bucks. Its a 360 game. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Lords of midnight. A RPG game on the zx spectrum. It was a huge open world explorer game that really pushed the boundaries of what home computer games could do. It had 6 possible ways to win. And it's sequal Doomdarks revenge was even more epic.
