Would Baltimore be a useful cruiser in tier VIII ranked play? It seems like the hydro, radar, and American 8-inch guns would be a good combo. What do you guys think?

In theory it should work well. I haven't played the Balti since it moved from T9 to T8 - but it was a fine enough ship. Last season I didn't find as much success with cruisers as I did with battleships and the Lo Yang, but your mileage may vary.

I didn't see many in ranked, lots of Clevelands, however. Took me 25 games to make rank 15. Since I have no their Xs, nor am I anywhere near ready for that nonsense, I'm retired from ranked this season, my first.

Well, six consecutive lopsided losses later, I'm done with ranked. I kinda knew I sucked, but jesus, that was embarrassing.

Edit: Baltimore seemed okay. I averaged 65,000 damage which seems respectable, and averaged about one sunk per match. I'm really starting to feel that all tier VIII cruisers need a heal. It's a bit of a mismatch when you face a Prinz Eugen and he can beat you in a straight gunfight just on the strength of his heal.

Once I figured out how to adjust my gameplay to the PE on ranked, I did pretty well with it |

Only played three ranked matches so far (been busy with other stuff) but I'm not sure the Balti is the best option. You really need an aspect to stand out in ranked -- DPM, alpha, concealment ... something. The Balti has good AP on the 203s, but that's about it.
The Cleveland has ROF, Eugen has heal, Hipper has range and built in IFHE...there are just better options.
Personally, I'll probably try a few more games with the Cleveland and Benson, maybe try the Bama.

Okay...played some ranked and going to try to get to 15 this week. I'm finding it to be really streaky, with teams getting worse as the night goes on. Also not many still playing, so getting games can take some time. I am, however, kinda liking it so far, which surprised me. Not as much salt as I expected, the rewards are nice, and I'm getting good xp on some ships I'm grinding. Only real complaint is the lack of wins in my Cleveland. I'm putting out damage, but it doesn't seem to be quality damage...ya know? Attachments:
