First, have to say that it's a possibility I am really messed up, lol. I think I'm experiencing this. Have any of you gone through this?

As in, denial, anger, etc? Yes and also ugly crying, lol. That's what was going on when I started this thread. Then I had a few moments where I started laughing at myself because who does this? I really don't know what's wrong with me--why I'm being so affected. I read something last night and I started crying as if someone I knew had died. Then it hit me again today. I started thinking that maybe I am just feeling a sort of grief. I also wondered if it is just being 40 now. Edit: I guess it's the thought of not having the game, forum, or people from it in my life at all and I see that closer to being a reality. It's not true right now though and that's probably what I ought to be telling myself rather than what if.

Sometimes the most difficult thing to understand is the way our heads work.
As you said already, we'll be here for quite a while yet, and even after the main game runs it's course, it's not like you can't still communicate with the people you want to.

Regardless of the game dying or such, there's a possibility it could, but there's also a possibility you could stumble into a bag of money tomorrow that somebody lost and become rich.
Thing is, it isn't happening right now, everyone is still here, you still have the forum, you still have the game, and even if the game does die, you'll still have the people, regardless of the game you play.
I used to play on 360 a lot, I made a bunch of good friends there, and then I got my PS4 and my 360 now lives as a relic in my wardrobe, but I still keep in contact with the people that I got along with there. You don't lose the people that matter.

Well, it is inevitable that the game will die. But the people you have met will still be around, hopefully.
I keep up with folks from my GoW and Battlefield days, even though I've not played those games for years now.
I mean look around here. Lots of folks no longer play WoT, but we are all here conversing, sharing memes and making fun of each other. Some play other games together, some not. But this is a community.

^^^ All 3 answers to your question are really good Lady Tanker. Sounds like you already have 3 future gaming friends Once you devote time and effort into understanding something, even by the smallest amount, you can become frustrated; especially if it's a group activity like World of Tanks. I've made some really good online friends from computer games, and all this really means is the next game you play with them the bond reaffirms itself. I've found that your gaming experience is increased because you are familiar with your team mates and you have emotional depth. Ark and Warframe are two good examples for me. Arn't you going to play World of Warships with the Bunker crew on PS4?

Thank you for helping me make sense of this. And that's one of the things I appreciate about so many of you--how helpful you have been--making sense of my bad reasoning and worry, blah, blah, blah. I never would've thought I would consider so many people my friends.
And yes, I'm still waiting to see if I'm picked to test wows. This is the first time I've ever been involved in an online gaming community and it can be very confusing at times, lol.

I don't know if I'd call it "grief", but I do say "good grief" quite often lately. I think the better I've become at the this game, the more frustrated I become. Granted, I have a long way to go still.

Granted, I have a long way to go still. Lol. I'm there with you on that. My frustration comes when I keep making the same bad plays or teammates who don't do anything. 🙄😁 I really didn't have a name for all of this. It might not be grief, but sure felt like it.

My general outlook on everything massively improved when I quit the game. I just got, it's hard to describe.

I definitely play fewer games with each session than I did in the beginning--which I think is better for me. I tend to have less frustration and end up playing better for the most part. Do you play anything else now?

I just started playing again last night, it was ok.
Biggest revelation was my mate's now playing the game, and he's utterly unaware of WN8, kill:death ration or mark's of excellence. He's content with one penetration per game, or some random coloured ribbon. He has 78 games in the M4 Sherman with 21 kills. Yet he's pretty happy overall with what he's done so far; he is blissfully unaware of the wider WoT universe.
Platooning with him has shown me that before I was a fanatic, I was really fanatical. I'd read up on stuff, watch videos, I'd watch a 30 min video about concealment / camouflage and I'd then go out and practice what was preached, I'd plan out crew skills 3 or 4 tiers ahead of where I was, I'd grind crew skills, I'd dump 8 or 9 hours a day into the game if I was off shift and had no pressing issues.
But now I've mellowed out. In fact the game seem's odd to me now, I recognise it, I know my way around it, but I'm really puzzled as to any incentive (other than to platoon with my friend) to keep playing it.

I had to personally step away from WoT, since I started playing it at a time in my life when I had nothing, and it was all I was good at and it kept me sane, but since I ended up becoming really good at it, I became neurotic with the game, had a lot of emotional breakdowns (game wasn't at fault for that one, just allowed them to come out) when playing.
I think games can evoke genuine feelings of sadness and regret, but that can't be just simply whimmed away by saying "it's just a game" for some people,
The human mind is a weird thing with stuff like this though

I enjoy the game and I'd miss it if it ever stopped, but for me it is mostly about the people now. I don't have many people in my life outside of my family at home. If I didn't know how you all were doing or was unable to talk anymore, I'd be heartbroken and that's what I was thinking would happen when I responded the way I did.

Yeah, it was hurting me more than a game ever should. And yeah, it's more about the friends I've found across the way like Rest, Goodcat, Kev and the such, good guys. Most of us aren't going anywhere, even if I became more social and settled with family affairs more, I'd still have to have my digital escape, no matter what.

The game just isn't fun for me any more. Right now I just play random stuff. I played fallout 4 for the first time in years last week but I had to rage quit when my survival character got load trapped by a yao gui at vault 81. There isn't much I play on my xbox now. It's currently a washing pile. I downloaded some old games like rollercoaster tycoon and play them on my laptop. Kind of done with regular gaming now.
