Just got a personal mission to earn USS Kidd from a Freedom box. Is she any good? Only need to earn 5k base xp, for a tier 8 ( is she a prem?) that sounds too good to be true.

She is a fun ship. The heal lets you get away with things that would kill any other DD. You are not going to rack-up damage quickly in her as she does lack the Torp punch with only one set, but if you play Random, the ability to fight any other DD and win with the heal, plus defensive fire, makes you a serious threat. That's how I got mine. When I've praticed a bit more it should be a good boat.
Got the concealment module for that 6.4km detectability range and the AA mod for a 6km AA range.
I go for DAA over speed boost as well (does 39kts anyway). Sit in smoke and shred planes? Why not.

She's also a CV's nightmare as they can't run, they can't hide, and you absolutely shred her planes when she tries to kill you. |

My Kidd has a 5.8 detection range with CE and camo, which is nice. She's a great DD to play with a CV, as it can trade speed boost for def. AA, though I always use the boost so I can get out of trouble. Torps are an afterthought, and are better at kinda sorta area denial and if you get rushed. Guns are DAKKADAKKA times infinity.  Three second reload and turrets swing stupid fast. A crew with IFHE will benefit, but not needed really. CE is vital, and even AFT although your main battery at range is kinda shit -- the shells are the Mk. II US FLOATY variety.  Seriously. Max range shooting is discouraged on all but stationary targets. You are there to take caps, bully other DDs thanks to your heal, spot, smoke teammates, and provide AA support to other DDs and deny red CV ability to spot a cap. I have a ton of Co-Op games in mine, and almost feel ready to give it another go in randoms. It's got a high skill ceiling compared to other U.S. DDs, which are pretty easy to play, IMHO. |

Thanks for the info guys. Looking forward to getting it. I also got a mission for Texas and Cleveland but i already own those. Will i get the silver equivalent upon completing the mission, or nothing and they are quite pointless?

This is a really fun little ship, my best dmg so far is only 50k but she is an amazing support ship, locking down caps and bullying enemy DDs and CVs is alot of fun. Even managed to kite and sink a Bismarck but that took a while. I forgot how damn fast Bismarck is.
