I have heard much about the great nerf to Deathstar HESH, is HE worth it? Right now I am running 6 and 6 HESH HE.
When I do run out of HESH the HE seems to do basically identical damage and crits on a non pen, and roughly equal damage to soft targets, weak spots and the thin sides and rear of tanks.
Is HESH still the be all end all? HE is VASTLY more economical for mostly the same damage, except for the rare 1800 dmg shot on a tier 10, which I have had twice in 6 games. Once on the rear of a Jageroo, and once to the turret ring of the new German VK tier 10 heavy.

I don't have it but I know the HESH has 275mm of pen compared to 92mm of pen for the HE.so you are more likely to pen with HESH and (if RNGesus allows it) get those high damage hits. Also if I remember correctly it has a bigger splash radius as well.

HESH, only use HESH. You can pen the frontal armor of most other tier tens easily with it for 1400+, and even if you don't pen you can still roll 600+ damage on a splash. I don't think console's HESH round was nerfed, or if it was it was insignificant. PC's HESH round was brought more in line, but I believe is still regarded as the best option even there.

I will run full HESH for a while and see how it goes. There is a reason you guys are purps and I am not even close, I suppose, so I will take your advice. Tanks a lot everyone |

If you use anything other than HESH, then you deserve everything bad that happens to you.
Aim for flat areas of tanks, but if you can't get a good shot.... Just shoot their tank anywhere and do 600+ damage and wreck their crew/modules.

On a technicality the 183 should only have HESH. It never had anything else designed for it.

Why does angled armour reduce HESH damage, also? That.....doesn't seem right. Or am I missing something?

Armor angle doesn't effect HE/HESH splash damage at all.
