The Texas has UNREAL anti air. It has tier 8 AA at tier 5. Let planes come to you, or platoon with a CV, and you will blacken the skies.
Bottom left of the screen in the port. Click it and go to add player. Itll allow you to search for a captain. Search RonJamesDio.

For sure man, happy to help! Turn towards or away from airplanes when they fly at you, always take evaisive action, make it harder for the carrier to attack you. Just like world of tanks. Don't sit still and give a carrier an easy target. Your survivability will increase several times if you change your course when a squadron comes in to attack with torpedoes or bombs

I've already got some bad habits that i need to ditch. All the advice i'm getting is greatly appreciated guys, thanks :-)

Always turn towards incoming torpedo bombers. Torpedoes have an arming distance. If they haven't travelled that distance before hitting a ship, they don't explode. By turning into the torps, you increase the chance that they hit you before they arm.

The lack of HE ammo means you need to be close to do any real harm, particularly against battleships. If you are patient and wait for an opportunity to flank you can rack up massive damage in a very short time. Many of the lower tier Brits have high shells arcs which you can abuse to fire from behind cover as well. Edit-this is for cruisers I have no idea about BBs

British cruisers are garbage until the Leander. 6 inch HE shells can citadel them at close range. The Emerald at tier 5 is widely considered the worst ship in the game.

For the RN CLs try to play as much like a DD as you can. For the BBs, just enjoy them - so far they all seem to be strong for their tier, just use the different ammo choice wisely. HE at anything angled and AP at anything broadside or if you can reliably hit superstructure - especially if they are already burning or have DCP active.

Any tips on how to play BBs on maps that have alot of islands and not much open sea? DDs are a nightmare on those maps and i'm dodging torps more than firing.

Stay wide from the islands. DDs like to hug the edges of them and torp ambush ships coming around the corner. Staying wide gives you plenty of time to take evasive action once you spot the little bastards. Also pay attention to the mini map, especially to when and where enemy DDs were spotted. Try to guess where they would be. If you think there's a very good chance the DDs are in a cluster of islands, don't sail there. A cruiser escort equipped with Hydro will also be a big help. And some German BBs get an amazing Hydro consumable themselves.

Change your speed and direction often, especially against jap DD's. Torp attacks are designed to lead their target, so if you constantly make minor course corrections it makes it extremely hard for anyone, even CV's to attack you.
Every shot you take, drop your throttle back one notch or two, and change your direction a few seconds. That could be the difference between 3 torp hits and 1. If you arent actually shooting your guns in a Bb, you need to be holding right click and watching all around your ship constantly.
A BB can be pretty mobile, they just react much slower than a cruiser or DD. In a BB, you need to start reacting to something well before it gets even within 6kms of you. If you see a torp bomber squadron heading your way, from a LONG way off, start turning, by the time it gets to you drop throttle and turn hard, you can basically powerslide a 700 meter long ship. The whole stern of the ship swings wide.
This serves a dual purpose. First off, you dramatically change speed and direction, allowing you to easily dodge incoming attacks like torpedos. Secondly, this will throw off other enemies who may be targeting you from long range, whether it be torpedoes or guns, and forcing most long range torpedos and shells to be frustratingly far off course (for their user)

Watch some streams from Flamu. Seriously. He's not up everyone's alley, but he is a good player and does usually explain what he's doing and why. I really went from a mega-trash player to decent just using what I learned from him.

'Sup, fellow seahags! Just downloaded the game Sunday, played all the tier Is a bit, and did get an invite code so I have the tier II Diana (??) and eventually the Texas. Familiar with the basics of the game thanks to watching Mejash, as well as Pointy Haired Jedi and Jingles videos, as well as tutorials, but ... well, this is the first PC game I've played since King's Quest...on a PC Jr...in 1980. So...yeah. Getting used to the keyboard and mouse will take some time. Going to wait a bit before fighting anything but bots, tbh. Hate to punish my green teammates with my n00bishness. Also not sure if the headphones I have will work (they are Skullcandy and have an in-cord mic, but no clue if my computer can use it) and WOW do I need a new computer with a decent graphics card. Have most of it set to low quality for now. Name MajorEnglush (no spaces) and am on NA.
