My issue is time as well. I simply don't have the time to get more than 4-5 in a session if I'm lucky. It can be a pain, especially on wot and wows as just as you settle in after a few warm up games, you have to go. Its basically the only reason I think I still play WOT. I have all the vehicles I want and can play whatever I'm in the mood for even if it's just a few matches. WOWs, NAL, WT I'm stuck grinding and that's not as much fun.

Gave the Graf Spee's hydro a go today, and i regret not using it sooner. It getts great support utility with that. Pair up with a BB, stay on the far side of it when engaging at range, break off and flank and torp people in brawls and use hydro near islands and smoke to help the bb avoid torps. It really does complete the ship.

To anyone who doesn't have one... If you like cruisers at all, do yourself a favor and grab the De Grasse while it's on sale. She is an excellent Tier VI CL and is worth every penny.

Still trying to figure out which class I prefer. Probably will stick with cruisers for the moment but might switch back to BB's Dont want to put money into it until I hammer this out

Guys how do i get good with torps? I'm trying to use them more with the Gneisenau but i'm struggling, they often miss and i have to give alot more of my side then i'd like to get a good firing angle. Gneis torps shouldnt ever be your primary goal for attack. They are only useful of you find yourself in knife fighting range and even then I only really use them for limited area denial, firing them between islands as I sail past to deter cruisers or destroyers who may be trying to ambush through the channel. Gneis secondaries are absurdly powerful and accurate if you kit for it, with almost the same range as the torps anyway and you dont have to expose yourself as much to use them. ALWAYS CRTL click on an enemy ship you want to focus your secondaries on as it lowers the dispersion of your secondaries vs a selected target I believe. Something like that, it enhances your damage versus the selected ship. Torpedos are an absolute last resort, desperation tactic. Keep in mind the Gniesenau is insanely long, and it presents a massive target for enemies to punish if you turn to try and torpedo someone. Her bow armour and angle is extremely hard to get penetrations on, so in combat with other BB's no matter the range you should try and keep your bow pointed towards them if at all possibly.

You have to play a bit to unlock the ability to join clans, or get captains and such. Yeah, this really surprised me. Once I realised I wasn't truly terrible and that random battles gets you LOTS more do, I was progressing quickly. Campaigns are WoWS version of personal missions I'm guessing? Need to be Tier V to start them tho. I'm hankering after that Nelson tho, hoo baby. Should a newbie buy Warspite? Tier 6-8 is way beyond where I am right now though, I've topped out at tier 3 and only just started on BBs.

Since the introduction of the RN BBs she's almost exactly like her sister ship Queen Elizabeth, but Warspite has much faster turret traverse. I'd say the Warspite is still a good buy, but she's a very very slow ship.

Going from quick firing cruisers to the 30s reload of Bellephron was a shock, I'll tell you. Had a couple bad games where I just couldn't get hits in, and on a 30s reload that's painful.
Obvs you can salvo fire or ripple fire, is there any value to maintaining a slow rate of fire? Spacing out shots to get constant hits? Or is the alpha burst always best?

Dio mentioned in another thread that firing one shot at a time is better. You miss its just one shell instead of a whole salvo and you have a more constant rate of fire. I like it more and I seem to do better with this method.

Yeah, I figured with 4 turrets to bear on Bellephron, if you space shots every six seconds then that would be a constant rate of fire.
But I've never noticed red or green ships fire like that.
When is the right time for AP in a BB? I'm guessing against other BBs and HE for everything else (including BBs to a degree).

In a BB, shoot AP at everything. Especially broadside cruisers. If you hit them right, you can outright delete a cruiser.

Someone found out that if you “ripple-fire” like that, RNG rolls for each turret instead of all at once if you broadside.

Well, isn't that just the "ripple fire" already in the game? It calls it "sequential fire", which will fire each turret rapidly, but spaced in sequence rather than a broadside.
I am asking about physically, deliberately spacing out shots.
I suspect Ruthless was making a joke in the vein of "why wouldn't you just broadside everything".

OK, played a handful of games in the Erie. Unlocked the chester but have not played it quite yet. Not a bad start. Have much to learn. Feels like I did when I was learning WoT!!

The ripple fire for holding down the left click is effective, but I usually individually click for each gun on certain ships, like Gniesenau, which has seemingly terrible dispersion and a low number of overall guns. If you click one gun at a time, RNG calculates for each gun fired, giving you a dramatically increased hit chance. With Gneisenau for example, when I double click, I can average one shell out of 6 hitting in each full broadside, maybe. Usually its one or two shells out of 3 full broadsides as the dispersion sucks. If I individually click, I can average one shell per turret hitting roughly, give or take. This also allows you to slightly adjust your aim to hit different areas of the same ship with each shot, or in case your first shot falls short, high, too far infront etc. As a general rule, when I aim at a ship, I aim for a certain number on the horizontal line on the aiming reticle. This is for broadside ships in general, barring certain specific vessels, I aim for the number 5 vs most BB's, the 10 vs most cruisers and the 15 roughly for long range shots on a DD. When you fire your first turret, have a look at where the shot falls on the line, and readjust your aim so that spot on the line is lined up with the enemy ship. Your next few shots should either smash them directly, or if they do miss it will be because of RNG dispersion, not poor aim. When you reload, continue to shoot at the spot on the line your shells are falling to, make slight adjustments and you should increase your hits massively. Again, in a very general sense, it is usually number 5 for most BBs, 10 for cruisers. THIS IS FOR BROADSIDE VESSELS BEYOND 6KM'S. If you play japanese BBs with 25kms range, its closer to 10 for bb's and 15 or more for cruisers. Hope that helps. If this doesnt make sense or you have further questions about it just shoot me a message or add me in game.
