In WoTC I always tried to have in my mind what premiums I wanted so that when they came up for sale or on sale I could pick them up. It also helped me not make impulse purchases that would leave me with buyer's remorse (I only regret the Fury). Now I'm going to try to do the same thing in WoWS.
I know a lot of you guys have more prems than I do, so I'm looking for feedback on them. In general I love cruisers and BBs are ok. BBs are hard for me because it seems like every shot you take is trying to swing for the fence and the dispersion on a perfectly aimed shot will drive you to drinking while you wait 1/2 a minute to reload so you can roll the RNG dice again vs the steady damage output of a cruiser. DDs are fine...but I tend to YOLO too much (same reason I suck with light tanks).
Here's a list of my keeper/prem ships and how I feel about them.
Kutuzov - Best ship in game. I really enjoy the fast rate of fire, insane range, smoke...there's really no drawback to this ship.
Atago - Great T8 cruiser. After playing the Kutuzov so much, it's hard to adapt to the 15.8km range and reload but I'm slowly learning how to play this ship. I think getting a few more captain skills will also help. Squishy...so gotta be careful.
Tirpitz - Another good T8 ship. The guns drive me crazy, but the secondaries/torps are just all kind of fun. Plus...when the guns behave I love to whack ships for 50%-100% of their health in 1 salvo.
Belfast - I don't have enough captain skills to really make this ship work 100%. I do enjoy it a lot and do semi-well in it now. When I get CE + IFHE I expect it'll be exponentially better.
Atlanta - So much dakka, dakka fun. Super squishy and short range...but an absolute blast. Really strong late game. Objectively, it's not a great ship; but it's just so much FUN!
Duca d'Aosta - Fine little T6 play ship. I'm not great in it, but it's enjoyable to play.
Cleveland - Great T6 ship. I think I like the Kutuzov because I like this ship. I will blot out the sky with my HE.
Okhotnik - Kind of like the Duke of Pasta. Fun ship, but even stupider. But pity the fool who ventures within 4.5km of it.
Texas - Eh, it's fine. It was free with an invite code, but I wouldn't spend real money on it.
Konig Albert - It's fun when RNG cooperates, otherwise it just makes a lot of splashes around red ships.
Katori - So slow...but so accurate!
Diana - Another free one, I think I only played one game in it?
Unavailable prems I'd like:
Nikolai - if this is ever available I'll purchase it because reasons...doesn't seem like that's going to happen, though.
Kamikaze/Kamikaze R - kind of the same as the Nikolai. Wanted to play the Minekaze before the IJN DD nerfs, but didn't make it.
Prems I think I'm interested in:
Molotov - I'm not in love with T6 MM right now, but seems like this can be a really strong ship if you are careful with how much broadside you show.
Scharnhorst - Seems like a great ship. Seems like it solves the long reload hate I have for most BBs. I guess the closest thing to a cruiser/BB hybrid we have? I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it, but I don't want to make a $45 pixel ship mistake.
Not sure if there are any other prems I might need?

Get a shiny horse for sure, I don't have one (never get around to buying one) but I've heard nothing but good things about it and it's a tough opponent. Nikolai, Gremyaschy, Kamikaze sisters... forget about them, they are not gonna be available. Ever. I'd suggest keeping an eye out for new prem ship sneak peeks, and put money aside for ones you want ahead of time. The Hood is going on sale this weekend. IJN Kaga is probably going to be next, then the USS Kidd and RN De Grasse. After that the three new ships that just got teased, the HMS Gallant, VMF Admiral Makarov, and USS Enterprise. All these get sold for a limited time before being removed from the store. They will be back sometime in the future, but it could be anywhere from six months to a year so if you really want a limited time ship, get it before it leaves the store. My favorite premium ships - USS Alabama - I loved the NoCal, so this was a no-brainer for me. Awesome ship. Combines the maneuverability of the old standard-class USN BBs (New Mexico, Colorado, etc) with the speed of the NC - she handles like a dream. Second best torpedo protection in-game after Yamato. Awesome AA if you spec for it. The guns have a very slow velocity, like all USN guns, but they hit like trucks and are pretty accurate. IJN Kamikaze - I mean, I've gotten 167K damage in her (could've gotten 200K if the last enemy ship hadn't suicided), OP as heck. IJN Yūbari - Cheap buy, only twelve bucks for the ship + port slot. A lot of people hate her because she's super squishy (Atlanta levels of squishy) but the torpedoes hit as hard as the Kamikaze's, perfect for ambushing BBs from behind an island (they have terribad launch angles though). The guns are laser accurate even though there are only four total. The maneuverability and speed is good. The camo looks sweet. And she gets DF at Tier 4, lots of fun to div with a CV. USS Atlanta - Yep, HE rainbows are fun. Plus, who doesn't like unlimited DF charges? USS Sims - fastest USN DD, keeps up with Russian bias-boats. You can get the gun reload down to like 3.3 seconds, and if you run adrenaline rush you can fire every two and a half seconds on half health. DF on a destroyer is fun too. HMS Payfast/HMAS Perth - I like them, I just need to git gud at them. Perth gets the hilarious creeping smokescreen (I run the special smoke upgrade mod.1 thingy, I get two minutes of moving smokescreen  ) and Payfast is Payfast. USS Smith - If you like derping around in Co-Op to wind down, Smith is the ship for you. 4.5km, super slow, low damage torpedoes with a total of three (3!!!) single launchers. That reload in... 11 seconds. Stock. Tier 2 derpski, much fun. Driving around AI Battleships and bombarding them with torps until they die is so much fun. |

Out of those - I play CVs, so Kaga and Enterprise are instant buys for me, both very well-known, cool looking carriers. Hood and Kidd - I'd like them, but Kaga and Enterprise take first priority for me so I probably won't be able to afford either one. HMS Gallant - I'll probably pick her up, she looks awesome and won't cost too much. Makarov/De Grasse - Makarov Is a boring copy-paste Nurnberg with some Russian bias thrown in *yawns* and De Grasse... I don't play French cruisers that much and she looks like another Duca D'Pasta - cool camos but meh ship. |

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if WG broke it's promise on ships "never" being for sale again. They're greedy corporate pigs! Fury was a "never" tank and it happened, they shelled out for the license and cashed in the that! Sure this is WoWS but it's still WG.

Probably pick-up DeGrasse and maybe Reparationsberg as well.
Not sure on the Hood as the only BB I've played is the Scharnhorst because it is basically a cruiser with armor. (Everybody needs a Scharnhorst. Seriously, she's a beast. Buy one.)

I know the Nikolai was given in a few Santa containers, but I wasn't really that much into WoWS yet - so I didn't get one. Tried to get the Kamikaze during the Clash of Elements...but alas, I'm not good enough to get the 800 coins req'd. I think I only got 625 or something like that. |

I almost bought the Sims during ranked. But really, I'm not great with DDs. I do ok with the Fletcher, Gearing, and Khaba (is that really even a DD??) on PTS, so I'll probably venture down the USN/VMF DD lines. The RN DD could be interesting, too. It was the IJN DDs that put a bad taste in my mouth. I started them right as all the nerfs were being applied and every time I got a little better the ships got a lot worse. Man, everyone speaks so highly of the Scharn and I watched them do well in ranked. I'm going to try to hold off for a sale on it (EU just had one this weekend) because I don't like paying full price (that's why I bought the Atago/Tirpitz when they were 50% off). I think it'll be something I really enjoy. Part of the tankiness of a BB with a reload/speed/maneuverability of a cruiser. Hopefully soon. Hood is curious. In theory it is a battlecruiser like the Scharn. But damn those slow turrets and dispersion worse than the Warspite. It's rumored it may get a 2*/sec buff on turrets, but unconfirmed. Although, if everyone sucks in it WG may buff it further. Who knows. |

Do you feel like the Alabama has many 'downsides' when compared to the NC? I know it's sigma was talked about a lot...but I wonder if the accuracy is really much different than the NC in actual game. |

I will say my biggest regret so far is the Konig Albert. Especially since I've gotten a few other BBs. If you want a badass BB just get a South Carolina. The Konig is just too slow, the turrets are also very slow turning, and the reload takes forever! My best battle was in Coop so far.

The Scharnhorst is fun, I play mine as a jumbo cruiser, very good at flanking and giving people suprise buttsex. When top tier it is hilarious, bottom tier you will struggle against higher tier BB's, then you just load HE and aim for the superstructure.
HMS Hood will be a purchase no matter what, even if I dont play it that much, I have prems in my roster that I hardly play, (Anshan, Dunkerque, Indianapolis, Warspite, Graf Spee) even things like the Atago, Kamikaze, Molotov and Leningrad dont get taken out as much as I would like.
The prems I mainly play are Belfast, Scharnhorst and Tirpitz.
Im waiting for the Kutuzov to come on sale again, and will be purchasing Hood and Gallant.

Nah. The accuracy difference is practically unnoticeable. The only thing that is worse than the NC is the superstructure size, Alabama's is a bit bigger and gets shot more often, so you take slightly more damage when you're bow on than in the NC, but it's not enough to matter. |

Thanks for the info on the 'Bama. I really enjoyed the NC on PTS, but I think I'll get the Scharn/Molotov first (when $$$ allows) and I'll be watching to see what the upcoming non-CV prems are all about.

I think I'm probably going to pass on the Hood. It doesn't look like a bad ship, but it doesn't look impressive either. I tend to prefer prems that have a niche of some sort or are borderline (or blatantly) OP. I watched Jingles' preview of it today and I just can't justify it. It has good gun arcs, but still slow turrets, no torps, and it's AA has weak modules and won't protect against torp bombers (unless the CV is dumb).

I will be getting Hood and more than likely it will be the top package (end of year bonus and all that lol) I like it in the fact that it doesnt look OP which I look for in a prem (ignore the belfast in my port lol). Roll on Friday

The problem with the Hood, for me at least, is that I love historical ships but pretty much know I'd almost never play her. The history guy in my head is already reaching for the wallet, but the logical guy keeps knocking it out of his hand.
Now if she came in a bundle with the Glowworm, well, logical guy could go wait in the car....

I thought about buying the base bundle, but since you can only get the "historical" skin with the expensive package I am just out completely on it. This has been a rough year, so no matter how much I'd like to, I just can't pour that kind money into a game. I am hoping BB weekend next weekend puts the shinyhorse on sale, though.
As for the "not OP" part. I prefer when WG sells a prem that isn't OP and fits well with the other ships of its class/tier. For the Hood specifically I just don't generally prefer BB, so I'd rather just stick with my cruisers for now.
