November 18th, 1978 Jonestown Massacre American cult leader Jim Jones leads/forces his followers to drink cyanide-laced punch in a mass murder-suicide that claims over 900 victims.
I've read about that. Some weird fucking shit going on there. Yeah that cult mentality is some weird shit. There are several large groups in the U.S. right now. The off shoots of the Mormon Church have several factions out west. And then the groups in Southern Missouri/Arkansas territory is strange stuff too.

In 1953, Swanson overestimated the number frozen turkeys that it would sell on Thanksgiving by 26 tons. The company decided to slice up the extra meat and repackage it--creating the first ever TV dinner.

I worked with a couple dealers in Australia and New Zealand that belonged to the "Exclusive Brethren". Strange folks...no cell phones, didn't have computers when I first started dealing with them (hired non-Brethren to deal with correspondence), had no radios in their cars (pulled them out) and wouldn't eat with you, even when you traveled with them. Very strange indeed.

I used to work with someone who was employed by the Brethren to run an office for them. It dealt with all of their business that was outside of their doctrine

They would go down to the post office in their area of Brisbane and fax in their machine orders and we would fax them back their invoices.

I ended up having issues with the dealer in Oz and sacked them, but the dealer in NZD was good to work with if not a little strange, e.g. visiting customers and going to eat lunch with the customer in the restaurant while the Brethren salesman sat in his truck and ate.

A poignant Historical Fact today One cold and bitter Thursday in Munich, Germany Eight great football stalwarts conceded victory Eight men will never play again who met destruction there The flowers of English football the flowers of Manchester Matt Busby's boys were flying returning from Belgrade This great United family all masters of their trade The pilot of the aircraft the skipper Captain Thain Three times they tried to take off and twice turned back again The third time down the runaway disaster followed close There was slush upon that runaway and the aircraft never rose It ploughed into the marshy ground it broke, it overturned And eight of the team were killed as the blazing wreckage burned Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor who were capped for England's side And Ireland's Billy Whelan and England's Geoff Bent died Mark Jones and Eddie Colman and David Pegg also They all lost their lives as it ploughed on through the snow Big Duncan he went too with an injury to his brain And Ireland's brave Jack Blanchflower will never play again The great Matt Busby lay there the father of his team Three long months passed by before he saw his team again The trainer, coach and secretary and a member of the crew Also eight sporting journalists who with United flew and one of them Big Swifty who we will ne'er forget the finest English 'keeper that ever graced the net Oh, England's finest football team its record truly great its proud successes mocked by a cruel turn of fate Eight men will never play again who met destruction there The flowers of English football the flowers of Manchester

March 6th. In 1836, the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, fell to Mexican forces after a 13-day siege. In 1944, U.S. heavy bombers staged the first full-scale American raid on Berlin during World War II.

Today in 1775 the American Revolutionary war started. I'm glad we are allies now. Do any of you Brits own the T26E4 Freedom? The Knight is my favorite tier 6 and I even like the paint job!

It was also the day that "Americans" determined that they didn't like to keep their bags of tea in the tea cup, and that is why they threw in it Boston's harbor. I actually also think this day in history is when we determined we liked coffee more. True story, not fake news...because I read it on the interweb

I had to look that term up in the Urban Dictionary. Nope . Been married 27 years and out of touch with current cultural terms I guess.
