Because we srsly needed a thread for this.
Cannae begin to imagine the hype set for Dark Souls III, and while it's taking away one of my favourite parts of Bloodborne, the whole idea of being able to recover HP by damaging enemies.
It'll be curious to see how the setting is, as the area in their gameplay reveal is the High Wall of Lothric or something, Firelink appears to also be making a reappearance, and the trailer itself mentions Faraam's Undead Legion, Faraam being from Dark Souls II.

Honestly I hope they use very little to link Ds3 to ds1/2. I didn't really care for the fan service in ds2. I also hope hexes will be making a come back. Hexer builds are my favorite mage builds.First play through though I will be going quality build or fth/str. I also hope dual wielding will be added for greatswords. Dual greatswords > sword and board.

I also hope dual wielding will be added for greatswords. Dual greatswords > sword and board. My main in DS2 dual weilded those giant clubs, so much fun. He was like a KV-2. I'm not at home to confirm but I just read that the digital preorder is up. Release date is April 12th.

Dual greatswords > sword and board. I don't mind if they hint towards things from DSI/DSII, and there's definitely some of it, such as the Abyss Watchers having swords almost exactly like that of Artorias's sword. Although I do hope they stray away from it with the enemy/bosses, no repeat of Ornstein again. Never used Magic much at all, I was always a Sword and Board type, with the Bow available for range, although with how much I played Bloodborne, I may stray towards avoiding the shield for a while with how mobile the character now seems to be.

Depending on the available weapons in Dark Souls III, playing without a shield may end up being more fun than playing with one after Bloodborne.

I stopped using shields in dark souls 1, for the most part, after I finally got the hang of it. now I'll only using them in areas too difficult to progress without. But that's because I prefer high stamina builds and fast rolls. The playstyle isn't for everyone but it's worth giving a try.

I stuck with shields through all of DSI, never really changing.
For DSII though I certainly changed up and went more towards rolling instead of blocking, and I sorta expect the same to happen in DSIII where I find a kind of armour I like the look of, and even if it's utter trash armour I'll use it cause it looks nice.
Kinda hope they have at least one Trick Weapon in the game too, since in BB those things are just gorgeous.

Fashion souls > armor rating I definitely made it 'harder' for myself on DSII by playing the entire game through to 100% with only Leather Armour for 99% of it, switching of course to the Symbol of Avarice and whatnot for the item farming parts. It's something I really liked in Bloodborne, although I could endlessly praise that game, there doesn't seem to be much need to use this or that armour since for the most part they are similar with slight differences, nor is there any need to upgrade any armour at all, don't have to sink in 4 Blood Rocks to get Hunter Gear +10 or something.

One of my current pc playthroughs of ds2 I am running a quality build dual greatswords with the imported pants and hood from the first set you get. One mistake and I get nearly one shot haha but it's a real fun build. I'll probably go through the light armors I've collected so far and mix n match them for the best appearance before hitting the dlc's though. I don't know how anyone can do a naked run through of the old iron king dlc. I hate that place.

Someone got me the SoTFS so I had to redo the entire game again for 100% after 100%'ing the 360 version with no DLC's, so that was fun, in both ones I practically only used Leather set, Drangleic Sword and Shield I believe. Although after doing the DLC I added in the Drakeblood Sword which is just sexy as fuck. Honestly of the 3 DLC's, the poison was alright and Drakeblood Set looks fucking amazing, Old Ivory King was hands down my favourite and the Iron one was felt lacking as hell. Although there's that fucking annoying NPC somewhere in it, the Assassin or something, and I managed to accidentally knock him off the edge to his death, nothing is better than doing that in DSII. After beating the game though I don't feel like I can redo it, it just felt more 'boring' than the other games.

I waited for sotfs to be released on xbone before picking it up. And then during Xmas I picked it up for pc on the steam sale. It's been years since I gamed on pc so I'm slowly rebuilding my collection for it. I actually like ds2 better than 1 for its combat mechanics. That's the main reason I still play it. It just feels smoother to me. But it will never beat the atmosphere of dark souls 1. That game was just fucking glorious and has ruined most rpg's for me. I am really hoping dark souls 3 will have a comparative atmosphere to 1 with the improved combat mechanics of 2.

I got DSII within like a week of it's release I believe, and never bought the DLC's for the 360 version(not like my 360 can even read any disks anymore). It felt a bit 'smoother' but it did seem like there wasn't that much risk in being hit, I'd sit there with like 99 Lifegems as opposed to 5-20 Estus Flasks, so I'd never really come close to running out.
I'm just kinda hoping they take well from what they learnt in Bloodborne and just improving on that, even with the return of many weapons not in that, although I'll truly miss the system for getting back HP with damage and back to Estus and Bonfires.

DS III is almost upon us! I am looking forward to it so much right now. I've watched a few pre release vids on YouTube and the atmosphere looks so much better than what ds2 had. I haven't looked into what the new stats are since I like going in blind my first play through so I can't comment on that. But the combat mechanics look like they've been greatly improved. I've heard a few youtubers say that bow builds might actually be viable this time so I'm definitely going to try that out.
I already pre ordered it on steam so I'm hoping it will live up to the hype. But as long as it's better than Ds2 I'll be happy. Not to say ds2 was a bad game, it's a great game, just a bad souls game.
Anyone picking it up on pc? It'd be nice to have more folks on pc for me to get some jolly co op in with. No one in my Xbox friends list play the series which is why I got it on pc instead. Also pc has the second largest playerbase after ps.

I'm on the Xbox but I agree, the combat looks pretty good in the videos.
One thing I noticed that interests me is that you can choose to be a Pyromancer right from the start. I might try that out which would be a huge departure from my normal routine. My main character in DS2 was pure melee, no magic.

Hope they bring pyromancy back to how it was in ds1 and not tied to any stats. It did make it op but every buil d was able to use it and it tied in with the lore, better than what they did to it in ds2. the pyromancer was also a starting class in ds1. It was a good class if you wanted to make a good min/max PvP build.

Absolutely going to carry a bow around with me, liked to do that in both of the other DS games when I wasn't running around sword and board and it'll be the closest to the Hunter Pistol I've become so used to on Bloodborne minus the parry ability. DSII was definitely not a bad game, just kinda lacking for a Souls game, the whole infinite healing item thing didn't make it that great, nor did the bosses. Getting it for PS4, probably not going to pre-order it but PS4 is the only thing I can get it on outside of PC which I doubt my PC could run it at all, not to mention that I wouldn't be acquainted with the controls.

Yeah bows are great for pure melee builds. I'm going to try a bow build with a dagger for back up depending on how effective they'll end up being in ds3. The tracking and speed though look like it'll be perfectly viable. My pc runs Ds2 fine so I'm assuming ds3 will run the same for me. I'm pretty sure I meet the min requirements. I also play with a xbox controller on pc. I can't be ducked to use kb/m for it. Tried it and it just felt unnatural haha.
