He isn't going to stand for the anthem until all the social inequalities in the US are solved. OR until he's cut. Whichever comes first

Mr. Colin Kaepernick has the right to not stand and honor the sacrifice of thousands of American men and women throughout history whose actions have granted him the right to do so.
That said, millions of Americans also have the right to regard Mr. Kaepernick as a self-aggrandizing, sanctimonious shit-stain upon the jockstrap of the NFL, which we most assuredly do.

Interesting point that I saw raised today was that just recently, a former Black Islamic athlete was praised for his stance against his country and would not join the military to fight a war he didn't believe in.
Kind of funny what a difference a couple of months makes.

Kind of funny what a difference a couple of months makes. Also kinda funny what a difference 40 years can make. Some might argue, but I like to think we're a better country than we were when Jim Crow was legal. Anyways I got better things to worry about then some jock-head's opinion. The guy makes a living chasing a ball around a field. My cat does the same thing, and no one cares if he stands during the anthem.

I seriously hope that no one would try to make an argument that America is worse off today BECAUSE of the elimination of forced racial segregation. Technically though, Kaepernick makes a living by THROWING the ball around the field not chasing it... unless he throws up a couple of bricks leading to INTs which seems to be happening a little more these days. To add on to the last point, I was also surprised at the outpouring of love for Muhammad Ali considering he was a practicing Sunni Muslim and the more radical people of that group are running around cutting off heads these days.

That's only really Sunni Muslims in the Middle East that go around cutting heads off, not America or Europe. Well, for that matter, every group in the Middle East. For the last thousand or so years. Place is fucked. It's like the Balkans but a hundred times more violent and sandier.

I mostly tried to stay out of the conversation, but I was talking about it with a friend of mine and I said something that I will continue to say about the whole situation.
My problem with the whole thing is not the action itself. Mr. Kaepernick has every right to not stand for the National Anthem. On the other side, people are allowed to criticize him for it.
My problem, however, is his motive, and here's what I mean:
If what I hear is true (keep in mind that I don't follow American football [being proper for Sqn Ldr B]), then Mr. Kaepernick's performance has been less than stellar the past few years. Because of that (I think this is his contract year), he might be cut or traded after pre-/regular season. Because of this, he might be trying to do something to keep himself relevant. If that is the case, then there are better ways to go about it.
If he does mean what he says, then he's got some proving to do.
Here's what I mean: I saw an article that said Mr. Kaepernick donated the profits from his jersey sales to charity (the actual charity is not known to me at time of post). That's great, but I can rattle off numerous celebrities that donate to charities in the name of "change", however they do nothing else to bring around change. If Mr. Kaepernick is serious about brining change and "ending oppression", then he needs to get his hands dirty in the process, because saying you want change and actually working to bring it are two different things.
My other concern is the timing.
For example, to my knowledge (as of time of post), I am not aware of Mr. Kaepernick speaking out on the cases such as Freddie Gray, Michael Brown, Eric Gardner, etc. I am not aware of him protesting during these times. However, he waits until this year, his contract year (if I am not mistaken) to do something like this. To me, this brings his motive into question.
So I thought I would throw my two cents in there. Sorry for the long post.

God forbid someone exercise their right to peaceful protest. What he's "protesting" pales in comparison to the black on black atrocities occurring in America.
